Mikhail and the were he met are just an example of a mating happening right in front of Tim's face. I kind of like it when the only word they can manage to say is "you" which is why Nathaniel says it (and also Derek in that fanfiction fusion I did one time). Tim even says it, at the end when he finally gets it.
They could appear? I wouldn't rule it out. I like callbacks to previous stories. :)
