Argh! I hate dying my hair, but I'm too vain to stop! Luckily I long ago stopped the whole experimenting thing and just stick to one color. (Although by the way I don't have my glasses on because I don't want to get dye on them, so sorry about any typos, I'll fix them later.)

Aaaaanyway, on to an actual point... I've been thinking about Ideas of Sin. It's too long to get published anywhere any time soon, and, frankly, it's got all these religious themes and dubcon shit and a weird writing style, so it getting anywhere anytime soon is unlikely. (I commented to [livejournal.com profile] plainapple the other day that it was obviously written at a very specific point in the timeline of slash's evolution, from its themes alone.) And like I've said, it's loooong. Nonetheless, I don't mind it being up for free for people to read, in the old or new version. (In fact, someone comparing them would be interesting, but omg, imagine that much reading). I was even considering posting it in serial form or something on one of the original slash comms.

The problem being, that's a lot of work, and they've never especially been fond of me/it on most of those comms. On the other hand, what's there to lose and why not? Excepting of course there's no tension because it's already finished. And I'm never going to be able to compete with The Captive Prince --which is something I've never read but which is apparently like THE thing to read.

Hmmm maybe that's not worth it. Ioa has its secret and not-so-secret fans already. I have no idea how people even find it though. I ought to get one of those tracking stats things and find out...if there's a point. I don't mind working hard when there's a point to it.

So...where was I going with this? Maybe the dye fumes are going to my head. Hmmm, um...I'm just between projects and getting antsy with nothing to do, and a big pointless amount of work to do that won't affect anything in anyway sounds like my kind of busywork. lol

I still think you should put it up at Archive of Our Own.

I haven't read The Captive Prince either.:)

[livejournal.com profile] sinjah looooves the Captive Prince. I don't know what it's about. I have another original epic Shadow of the Templar set aside to read though, but haven't read. (I need an ereader, it would make this easier, oy). I'd like to do another original slash rec set, but I don't think I've read enough.

You think Archive of Our Own would be better? Why> (Not being bitchy, I really want to know.)

I have it bookmarked but crap if I've had time to even look at it.

..ok, I have no idea why it would be better I just think that since people are now using it, it would be easier to find.
Bitchy, heh.:)

Easier to find might work, though I don't notice a lot of hits to the bits of original stuff I have up there. But I suppose I could. It isn't like I'm writing right now or anything. (Argh Grrr Dammit)

Like, say, bathroom sex and dry humping.:)

Am still the proud author of the two most read 'dry humping' fics on AO3!

*pride!*

I imagine "Playtime" will knock me out of first eventually but that's a fic I'd be happy to come in second to. It's my favorite dry humping story ever. :)

It's kind of really hard to describe what Captive Prince is about, but basically, the crown prince of a kingdom is kidnapped by his brother and sold as a slave to an enemy kingdom. But saying it's slavefic would be so inadequate I don't even know. There is so much plot, it's amazing. And there's battles and unexpected things happening left and right and ridiculous amounts of UST and great character building ^__^

I also really, really want to read the Shadow of the Templar series, cause I've really loved the other things I've read by that author, and I've heard really good things, and I like the concept a lot, but I still haven't managed to set up a PayPal account cause my bank hates me.

Isn't there a free version of SotT still online? I thought there was. ??

I just...I have issues with slavefic. I have nothing against the thing itself, per se, just with fangirls' attitudes toward it. It puts me off. So that's one reason I haven't read it.

Another being it's long and unfinished, and another being I am a difficult bitch who has problems with hyped things.

Right? Contrary bitch, that's me. lol

But an original slash recs set would be good.

From: [identity profile] sinjah.livejournal.com
Really? I thought you could only buy them. I might be wrong, it's been a while since I checked. They're cheap, though.

I absolutely hear you on all these points. First of all, I have so, so many issues with hyped things. It's lucky (for me) that I mostly don't even know which things are hyped and which are not in fandom. Like, with Captive Prince, I wouldn't even know it's really popular if I didn't see the hundreds of comments, I've never even seen someone else mention it. But yeah, I totally know how you feel. Why are we so contrary?

It's really long, and it's only about 2/3 done I think, which means it's going to be really, really long. It's basically three books. The only plus side is that updates are more or less regular.

As for the slavefic part... I don't know if you'd call it slavefic. I mean, you would, obviously, but at the same time you wouldn't. The dynamics are not your typical slavefic master-slave dynamic, plus from about chapter 6-7 and onwards, it's not even about that. This was the reason I was reluctant to start reading this, because I've really loved some slavefics, I won't lie, but I thought, 100k+ of it? I don't know. But it's really mostly not about that. I'm putting so much effort in not just gleefully babbling about the entire plot right now, you don't even know.

But an original slash recs set would be good.
Is that a request or something? You mean ANOTHER ONE? XDD

Date: 2011-03-27 06:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] r-cooper.livejournal.com
Well I wanted to do a recs set, but I really haven't read that much original slash lately. Or um...at all. I try to. I mean to. But the descriptions put me off a lot of the time. And well...(I could whine in email about other things, but I am trying not to).

It's probably not good for my ego right now to read something awesome anyway. I'm not writing at the moment, and that makes me mopey.

I'm not judging the slavefic for existing. I just...hate fangirls who act like slavefic is acceptable but dubcon isn't...when they are the same thing. ARGH. *deep breaths*

See? I'm all...fussbudget-y today. :)
